Jelle van der Velde

Jelle van der Velde is a marine park ranger for the Saba Conservation Foundation. He was born on Curacao in 1991.  Later having moved to Saba in 2003 and St.Maarten in 2008 he spent most of his free time near or in the ocean. Having exposure to the ocean, dive shops and various nature protection organizations, his interest in the ocean developed into a passion. As a result on February 2013 he started working for the Saba Conservation Foundation as marine park ranger. Having been tasked with monitoring the marine park he needs to know what threats there are to the reef. Coral bleaching and disease being one of them. He hopes that awareness of the various threats will spread in order to properly monitor them.

Jelle van der Velde will be presenting on October 13th, 2018 as part of 5-Square Mile Night. We will be updating our calendar with activity dates and times as we continue to coordinate our event. Stay tuned!
