Clark Ovrebo

Clark has always been interested in fungi since his undergraduate education in Biology. His Master’s (Univ. of Idaho) and Ph.D. (Univ. of Toronto) work focused on the taxonomy of the mushroom genus Tricholoma, an ectotroph genus found mainly in temperate forests.  His work with the genus continues, but after his first trip to the neotropics, he became interested in the diversity of tropical fleshy fungi and this work continues today as well. He has conducted field work in the llanos region of Venezuela, lowland tropics and montane regions of Costa Rica, montane regions of Colombia, lowland tropics (Barro Colorado Island) and pre-montane forests of Panama; pine and oak forests of Belize, and the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. He also works on the fungal diversity of the west Gulf Coast region of the U.S. He is recently retired from a faculty position at the University of Central Oklahoma but remains active in his research ventures. â€‹
