Dan Duran

Dr. Dan Duran has had a lifelong fascination with insects. When he visited Badlands National Park in South Dakota USA at the age of 12, he knew his goal was to study insects, especially beetles, for the rest of his life. Dan went on to get degrees in Environmental Science, Entomology, and Evolutionary Biology and became a world expert on the evolution and taxonomy of tiger beetles. During his time as an Associate Professor at Rowan University (New Jersey, USA) he discovered and described 17 new species of organisms from all over the planet, including new species of beetles, wasps and flowers. Dan is a co-author of A Field Guide to the Tiger Beetles of the United States and Canada (2nd Edition).

Dan will be on Saba from January 15-28, 2026. We will be updating our calendar with activity dates and times as we continue to coordinate our event. Stay tuned!
