Lucas Alferink

Lucas became fascinated by insects during his first year of biology at the University of Leiden. Especially the great number of species and the diversity in morphological features is what really interested him. In the beginning Lucas worked on wild bees and other pollinators, but because of his work at the Netherlands Institute for Vectors, Invasive plants and Plant health (NIVIP), his interest shifted to plant parasitic insects, especially whiteflies and scale insects. These two groups do not only have a very interesting lifestyle and some of the most bizarre morphological traits, but some species are also serious pests of crops and wild plants.

We will be updating our calendar with activity dates and times as we continue to coordinate our event. Stay tuned!
