Tjomme Fernhout

​

From his younger years Tjomme Fernhout(1998) always has had a love for nature. Starting with birds and reptiles, the passion grew to much more. During his time at a Dutch youth association for nature studies (JNM – jongeren in de natuur) he came into contact with insects and especially solitary bees. Developing his bee-knowledge to extents where he does field monitoring of solitary bees in various habitats. This work is carried out for Stichting EIS, a Dutch institute for insect research. His main occupation however is his Master studies Environmental sciences at Wageningen University and Research. He is looking forward to spending time together with John Smit on Saba island and providing insights and spread knowledge of the Hymenoptera and Diptera. They will visit the island first two weeks of February 2025.

Tjomme will be on Saba from January 31 - February 14, 2025. We will be updating our calendar with activity dates and times as we continue to coordinate our event. Stay tuned!
