Eva Drukker

Eva Drukker is a PhD student at Wageningen University, conducting a 5-year research project to investigate the ecology of green roofs (roofs with a layer of soil and plants). She examines which insects utilize these vegetated roofs by identifying them and assessing their ecological functions. Her research has already led to the discovery of three new insect species in the Netherlands.

Eva explores various groups, ranging from springtails and plants to flies, butterflies, bees, and birds. Her favorite group, however, is the flies, as they are often underappreciated and misunderstood. She is keen to highlight their vast diversity, which goes far beyond the common housefly appearance.

She has conducted several research activities abroad, including in the tropical rainforests of Nepal and the semi-deserts of Namibia.

In addition to her research, Eva also teaches at the university, taking students to the Pyrenees in France to study insects and plants.

In her free time, Eva is passionate about sports like survival run training and karate.

We will be updating our calendar with activity dates and times as we continue to coordinate our event. Stay tuned!
