Eco Tips for a Greener Year
Back to school on Saba is the perfect time to go green! Reusable supplies, thrifted backpacks from Red Cross or Boomerang, eco-friendly cafeteria choices, and riding the bus all make a difference. Dive Into the Reef—No Tank Required
Grade 6 Science SEAkers explored Saba’s coral reefs through immersive VR modules created by Alex and Aaron Pilnick with the Sea & Learn Foundation and narrated by Dahlia Hassell Knijff. Students learned what corals are, how to spot healthy reefs, and about local restoration by the Saba Conservation Foundation and Saba Research Center.

Tiny Creatures, Big Discoveries

From Coast to Cloud Forest
The Sea & Learn Foundation’s Roots & Routes campaign invited the Saba community to explore the island’s forests from January to March. Through tree hunts on iNaturalist, a creative art challenge, and weekly species highlights, participants learned about Saba’s trees and five climate zones. The campaign wrapped up with a lively Tree Jeopardy Night at Colibri Cafe, where teams tested their knowledge and winners received locally handcrafted prizes.
